Late now, and several new, newer or less regular players, or players who haven't played for a while, so I will suggest line ups.
The player on each team with the most number of games in the current 6 month period and has not opted out can be captains. That would be Peminder for Team 1 with 25 games, and Paul for Team 2 with 24 games. Captains can agree on colours.
A fairly mixed bag of line-ups resulted in a game that saw effort trump finesse. In the end, a drawn game of 4-4 seemed like a fair result, with numerous missed opportunities on both sides. At least everyone got good exercise on a Sunday
$2 credit to Kien for a first report. $1 credit to each of Peminder and Paul as team captains. $1 ball credit to Cedric.
One of the players WhatsApped me as follows on 9 November 2015:
think maybe a good idea to remind captains of their "duty". i. e. whenever there is a hand and ball contact loads of players from both sides that are neither captain nor involved in the incident making calls. i think captains should make these calls. it would smoothen things out a bit as the last thing one wants to be called is a "cheater". i also suggest to promote the write up on sportsmanship further n maybe include a point saying something along the line of not making uncalled calls, i. e. calling for handball if one is neither directly involved in the incident nor being one of the captains.
The role of captains has been emphasized enough.
I replied to the player as follows:
It's already on the forum. If there are players doing their own thing let me know. I will message them. Every game thread requires players to read this - giffas.proboards.com/post/12100/thread. I will remind anyone who hasn't read.
Of greater concern to me is that the use of the word "cheat" or "cheater" is uncalled for in any circumstances. I will address it more generally under the "Sportsmanship v Gamesmanship" thread.
