Game abandoned at last goal when 15-14 to Whites due to an injury to Kong Fei's ankle (not too serious)...
Fantastic fast flowing match that saw a goal every couple of minutes in an end to end thriller.
Whites had their superstars on show again in Steeves and Loic (with Loic starting on the bench! - Rajiv - surely a goal tax must be imposed on a team that turns up and plays rolling subs! I suggest 16.6% :-)
Whites took an early lead with Steeves burying his first chance. Bizarrely, own goals from Whites kept Reds in it in the early stages with the score 6-4 with three own goals from White (Yeo, Mark and Stuart).
As the game went on Dennis worked the right side and Loic came on around half way finishing with aplomb. Reds kept fast breasking and taking advantage of any opportunity with Yas helping build from the back. Arek, Neil, Raph and Steffen all racing forward and scoring to keep us in the game.
How did the rolling sub work? No player on Whites should have been required to be replaced by a player who was not listed to play. Only players who offered to be substituted should have made way. Anyway, I think a two or three goal handicap should be imposed on Whites for playing with a rolling substitute. Let's be kind and make it two. So that would make the final score 16-15 to Reds?
And why did the game have to be abandoned? With a readily available extra man, the game could have continued.
Some strange decision making if you ask me. Dennis-esque even.
When we arrived Loic has come along too and Dennis said he may play instead as Ian was injured. Ian then proceeded to play the first half and then they brought Loic on. Then Dennis went off and Ian came back on and then they swapped again!
We were past time and KF was laying on the pitch injured so it was right to end at that point.
Do we claim the match then on the basis that they are disqualified Champions League style for fielding an 'ineligible player' ;-)
Well, let's hear what Ian has to say first on the two goal handicap.
Assuming Dennis, Ian and Loic played two-thirds of the game each, they can each pay two-thirds of the payment per player, which is $6 each, instead of the full $9. I take it Dennis will be paying for Loic?
Who took over as captain of Whites when Ian went off?
Nobody - I hollered to Ian 'what sort of captain are you?' - 'you should lose half your fee' - or he could give it to charity of course on top of the dollar he owes me from last week's rules faux pas ;-)
1. I was carrying a slight injury which I aggravated during the game so I had to step out 2. I didn't know Loic would be there (will leave Dennis to comment)
Seeing that Raph is so desperate to win, he can have as many handicap goals as he likes. It is just worth pointing out the fact that even BEFORE the so-called rolling subs, Whites were already leading by 6-3 and if so anything, the subs didn't advantage Whites (seeing the match ended with the teams only a goal apart).
I think you're making number of assumptions in that last statement Ian but nevermind.
Take it easy mate, not worried about the win. Per our core values it was just good fun and exercise last night. After a game like that winning is irrelevant. Would be happy to have a 29 goal thriller every week and never win to be honest!

now now guys - I was assuming the 200 words constraint was still on me - and there was really nothing much left to say - but given that I am being requested to comment - let me just say:
Loic was really injured - he had stubbed and bleeding toe - but when Ian told me he had a tweaked knee and Loic insisted that he was fine if called upon, then I lent him my spare gear.
Honestly we were really already 3 up, even before the rolling subs took effect, but rather than play a man short, I think all will agree that in this unique instance - for once instead of having someone walk off the game supposedly injured - we had someone replace another because of a real injury.
I can also vouch for Loic after having seen his bleeding toe after the game.
So if anyone sees fit to impose penalties, I dont have any objection but surely the Reds wouldnt want to claim victory in such controversial manner and would surely rather win the game based on merits, skill and tactics - so the question should be asked: did the reds really deserve their victory? were they the better team, having conceded to 5.5 men within 10 minutes and affording them a shocking 3 goal lead - I mean the rolling sub is jus an impromptu course of action - there was really no intention to obtain any unfair advantage - if any offense was taken, my wholehearted apologies - it was not our intention - we were just applying precautionary safety first rules on injury and Loic will be Loic - he's lion hearted, even if he had only one leg, he couldnt be faulted for his enthusiasm and effort! I recall saying he is our Aubameyang didnt I? 8p
Plus credit to Ian for running his guts out despite his tweaked knee and then his pulled calf - we needed a colossal effort from everyone because the Reds were so blady strong - and my my, colossals efforts all round to put in that shift last Tuesday - the scoreline showed what Tues night Champions League entertainment at the Grandstand was all about! it was a really good effort from both teams. the scoreline was really unimportant. we have in the absence of certain individuals - demonstrated what Tues night football was all about - not squabbles or witchhunts or incessant finger pointing and backstabbing - but good fun in football - we now know who the real perpetrators of killers of tuesday blockbuster night entertainment - with real men turning up for tuesday nights, these are the type of fun we can all enjoy without accusations and finger pointing! that's the real business and fun of football!
so my final word - claim the victory, the 2 or 3 goal advantage - dock the fees if any one wishes to but at the end of the day, no one can take the credit away from the effort we made as the White underdogs for that night! and I am just glad to be part of the game - among sensible hardworking footballing adults!
Ask Stuart he was drenched after the game as if he had spent 8 hours in the sauna at Joo Chiat! 8))
Feedback on significant matters is important. It is best given on the report threads, or the Chat threads. If it's genuinely sensitive, you can message me personally, but please don't message privately me just to avoid a more public discussion of the issue. An open discussion of relevant matters is important as to how the response is shaped. That's the nature of a forum. What is more important is to express yourself with sufficient moderation and courteousness. The aim is to deal with an issue, not to cause offence to anyone.
In all the circumstances, I am adding the following sanctions:
Dennis is subject to a limit of 200 words per post on any report thread. Any post longer than 200 words will be deleted.
He can post multiple times to circumvent the 200 word limit, but in that case, each post must have a clear and concise subject matter stated at the beginning of each post. No subject matter should be repeated, so in effect, it is a 200 word limit per subject.
The aim was to force him to think about the point he is trying to make, rather than inflict us with his "verbal diarrhea". I don't know if that has been achieved.
