As there is a new player, and several who have not played together before much or at all, I will suggest line ups after 4 pm. I've added a team captain poll. I've included everyone who has played at least 15 games in the current 6 month period or 50 games over the past 3 years.
For Team 1, Stuart and Imran have 1 vote each, but Stuart gets in ahead of Imran having played more games over the current 6 month period (17 to 5). Guolong with 1 vote is captain of Team 2. Captains can agree on colours.
Stuart proposed Team 1 White, Team 2 Red. Alvin requested white, so Stuart agreed. No comment from Guolong, but several other players also agreed. No other comments, so line ups, captains and colours confirmed as follows:
Reds: Chris Sim, Stuart (c), Kong Fei, Vish, Imran, Sushil, Juho Whites: Guolong (c), Damian, Taufik, Cedric, Alvin Chew, Nic G, Ziliang
Everyone, please be early.
After the game, please post reports and comments on the game below.
Reds raced to a 3-0 lead with some sharp finishing from Chris and Imran dictating play in midfield. Whites kept plugging away and kept the score close but it seemed like every time Whites scored a goal Reds went down the other end and restored the cushion. The closest Whites came was when we scored a flurry of goals to peg Reds back to a 6-5 lead. Final score Reds 7-Whites 5. Reds passed the ball better on the night. Good run out and game was played in good spirits. On a personal note, great to catch up with old friends from the Tuesday night Cage games I.e Imran and Chris. Ball credit, please.
Great report Cedric and totally sums up the game. I think we would have seen a lot more goals had it not been for some awesome Goalkeeping from both sides (esp Taufik and Sushil) who managed to save at least 2-3 goals EACH. Dang! Frustrating for the strikers but kudos to them.
Was nice to see Damian back in action and not in form hehe (as he only managed to knock me once). Although it was a light tap, I did milked it for what it was worth (suck it Leonardo DiCaprio) but in my defense... I didn't roll around (much).
Thanks guys! Thurs games are always fun and relaxing One thing I wanted to bring up tho ' - I had to check if the "no sliding tackles" rule also applied to Thurs games and apparently they do. So if you are reading this please take note yeah? THanks!!
Sliding tackles are not allowed. A sliding tackle takes place when a player slides in the direction of a player in possession of the ball in order to deprive him of possession of the ball. However, sliding in other contexts, such as sliding to keep the ball in play, or to block a shot, or to intercept a pass, are not "tackles" as such. However, if significant contact is made with an opponent in the sliding motion, it may still be a foul, on one of the grounds below.
It looks like if there is no tackle on another player, sliding is allowed, for example, to block a shot, or intercept a pass, or keep the ball in play.
Sorry guys. Just one last point to make regarding sliding tackle.
The rule states that "A sliding tackle takes place when a player slides in the direction of the PLAYER..." In this case, the target of the tackle is the PLAYER with the aim "to deprive him of the possession of the ball", then it should be a sliding tackle and a foul.
However, if a player slides in the direction of the BALL to deprive the player of possession of the ball, it will not be considered a sliding tackle.
If the ball and the player are in the same general direction, it is still a foul Kong Fei. Please do not get overly technical by trying to draw an artificial separation between the ball and the player in possession of the ball. I have added the word "general" before direction to make this clear.
It is quite clear, to me at least, that the ball and the player in possession of the ball, will be in the same general direction of any other player. And a player running with the ball is in possession of the ball. I have made that clear too.
Sliding tackles are not allowed. A sliding tackle takes place when a player slides in the general direction of an opponent who is in, or receiving, possession of the ball (including a player running with the ball) in order to deprive him of possession of the ball, or to challenge the opponent. However, sliding in other contexts, such as sliding to keep the ball in play, or to block a shot, or to intercept a pass, are not "tackles" as such. However, if any contact is made with an opponent in the sliding motion, it will still be a foul, either as a sliding tackle, or on one of the grounds below.
If, in sliding, you make contact with an opponent, or bring an opponent down in the slide, it would be a "sliding tackle", or "tripping", or "any action where the sole of the shoe makes contact with an opposing player", and would still be a foul under the rules (including other rules). I have also made this clear.
I have also added the words "or receiving" before possession to clarify.
The onus is on the player making the slide for any other purpose to take care. As safety is a priority, any genuine dispute would be resolved in favour of the player who is on the receiving end of the slide.
In the circumstances, it is best not to slide unless it is clearly to block a shot (with no other player nearby), intercept a pass (again with no other player nearby) or to keep the ball in play (again, with no other player nearby).
