6:6 was the final score as reds struggled to get into any sort of rythem. Whites defended gallantly and those that can run ran till they can't. Cedric pulled his groin covering every blade of grass, was my Man of the match. Honda was efficient in linking play and Lynz scored the goal of the game with a diving header off a superb cross by Raj. Ball credit please
Whites played much better and deserved the win and scored some lovely goals. Reds were disjointed and never got going but somehow hung on and scored many lucky goals. 5 out of 6 of the Reds goals were deflections or own goals.
Agree with Jye, Cedric was like a possessed rodent, he was everywhere and defied his size and build to dominate the whole midfield and tackle and break up play time and time again. He was everywhere whilst he was still on the pitch and Red's only came back in it after he got injured and then eventually left the pitch.
All the Whites played well, good goals from Raj and Lynz
A bit disappointed with some of the pre game comments. My response:
1. No, I didn't get mugged off; 2. Yes, some thought went into the line ups; and 3. Stuart was a perfect gentleman and a pleasure to work with.
A frontline of Nick, Fred, Babs and Darren is an awesome sight BUT Raj, Lynz and Cedric are no pushovers either. Most of the time, we just turn up and play 3-3-1 and life goes on. However, the normal line up would have seen us massacred yesterday. Thanks to Cedric, we played almost a back four when defending and didn't look short a man when attacking. Little wonder he went off with a groin strain after about forty five minutes.
Credit also to Reds for allowing us to sub in Timmy for Cedric. Not sure what Timmy was doing hanging round the pitch at that time but his presence was fortuitous. I think the class eventually told and if we were to continue playing, Reds would probably have walked it. As it was, the game ended with us barely hanging on. Thanks for trusting the tactics and for the monumental effort guys.
