Reds won comfortably 7-4. That said, Whites were always in it until the last 15 mins as they ran out of steam. Before 4-4 it was neck to neck with Whites having the better of the opening exchange before Reds started pressing heavily on our def so much so that it became difficult to get the ball out from defence. First blood was scored by Naz, a long range screamer from the right wing (not sure if it took a deflection). Reds equalised quickly after and everytime Whites scored, Red would counter quickly and score too! Quite demoralising.
On White's team, it made good sense to start 3-4 formation without any striker to counter Red's formidable midfield and also Rainer!! Jessen and Elvin did well to harass Rainer, Kah Boon and Jake in the midfield until marking Rainer took its toll on Jessen who had to go into goal to recover for awhile Some sublime passing and flowing movement between Elvin, Joshua and Jessen in the Red's def led to a couple of goals and but for some well timed runs for Andrew who just missed it by a whisker, the result would have been different.
I think reds had the fitter players on the afternoon. Game was close and the lead was see-sawing between reds and whites for a good 45minutes until both were tied at 4-a piece. Good discipline on both teams but as we played about 70 mins, the fitter team prevailed with reds winning 7-4 or 6-4. Good game overall and thankfully no injuries on either ends.
Well played all.
p/s : I went into goal early as I had a late lunch and wanted to puke that out 5 mins into the game. My apologies.
