Whites: Sean, Daniel, Derian, Seo, Andy, Delon, Augustine
Reds: Wilson, Jeff, Jacko, Kelvin, Gow, Kien, Naz
In response to Rajiv's query, Andy and Augustine were late. We took a while before settling on Wilson playing as Whites keeper to get the game going, 6 vs 6.
After some early exchanges, Reds took the lead. This game welcomed Jeff in his new hairdo. Rumours have it that he showed his barber Thiery Henry's photograph as a sample. He didn't disappoint as a dopelganger as he curled home the first goal exquisitely, Thiery Henry style.
Game was back to 7 v 7, Whites scored 2 quick fire goals from Andy to take the lead. Reds equalised through Kelvin or Jacko?
Whites continued piling on the pressure, Delon, Daniel and Andy scoring.
Reds pulled one back through Kien. 5-3.
From there, it was the Whites night. Jacko went into goal fumbling in 2 goals... Derian's clearance some how went in. Andy had a pop shot that trickled in between his legs.
Jessen pushed forward from his centre back position and was rewarded with a goal. Delon scored another. 9-3.
Last goal was called. A swift counter attack lead to Derian squaring a ball for a simple tap in by Andy, the one with the midas touch for the night, who finished the game with 5 goals.
Jessen was brilliant as a centre back [in short - FSCB (F**king Shen Centre Back)], marshalled the Whites defence well and thwarted most of Reds attack. He had a couple of good block shots and timely interventions. He was rewarded with a goal as well. MOM in my opinion.
Latecoming was raised as an issue in the report thread for the last two Wednesday games at Khalsa, 23 March 2016 and 30 March 2016.
From time to time, a player may be late due to unforeseeable matters arising.
As we only have an hour to play, the more important consideration is that team selectors/captains start on time. It would be helpful, as well as a courtesy, if players arriving late message the group chat well before the time the game is due to start, to give an estimate of how late they will be. As latecoming is an in-game issue, I leave it to team selectors/captains to deal with latecomers, including, as may be necessary, temporary adjustments to the line ups, speaking to the player after the game to find out why he was late, and to remind him of the importance of arriving at least 10 minutes before the hour.
If a team selector/captain feels a player continues to be late despite previous reminders, the team selector/captain should raise it with me. I will then discuss late coming with the player concerned, including impressing upon him the need for good time management. If after several reminders, including at least 2 or 3 from me, a player continues to be late, then all that remains is for me to suspend the player for a period of time.
I am not keen on other types of sanctions, which can be confusing, and difficult to implement.
Other players who feel that a player was unjustifiably late, or is frequently or regularly late, should speak to the team selectors/captains first.
If a player is regularly 5 to 10 minutes late, then it is simply a matter of scheduling his time better, so that he leaves for the game 10 to 15 minutes earlier. If a player is not prepared to make this simple adjustment, then he has to accept the consequences.
