A warm and humid afternoon greeted both teams as all 16 players arrived punctually for the 5pm kickoff. Much like the Tottenham vs Liverpool game that just ended in a 1-1 draw, there was very little to differentiate both teams as both whites and reds attacked ferociously and defended valiantly from the start of the game.
Reds took the early lead within the first 10 minutes from kickoff and this was neutralized as Nick equalized in as many minutes from a Harry Kane-like shot from outside the box. 1-1, game on. Jan, Dom, Richard and Babs were driving the engine room in the reds midfield while Desmond gave a masterclass display of classic center forward hold up play. This was matched by the hard defending trio of Jye, Wilson and David who worked tirelessly to breakdown the red army while Augustine in White's goal kept the game at bay. 30 mins on, reds took the lead 2-1 only to have whites equalize from a deft free kick by Adrian. 2 all.
From then on, reds took control of the game as the ever industrious reds midfield created several chances and together with the continued overlapping from Chen Hong and Siva, stretched the score to a 4-2 lead. David having sat back at right back for half the game suddenly sprang to life as he pushed further forward up the field and was rewarded with 2 well taken goals after a couple of good exchanges with Nick and Derian. Coincidence or not, this happened almost immediately when Raj exchanged his central defensive duties for a more forward position in the reds offensive line.
At full time, the game was deadlocked at 5-a piece. We played a further 10 mins or so with reds scoring the final goal to make it 6-5 before we called it a day. Off my head, most of reds' goals came from Jan and Richard but I do stand corrected. Jye's ball was used.
Red's dominated for first 35-40 minutes and deservedly led 5-2, Whites then made a great comeback and dominated for rest of match bringing it to 5-5, & Reds were hanging on trying to play direct and hit on the counter. One of these counters eventually led to the winning goal and a 6-5 win.
Jessen has discounted all my goals, probably still dizzy from Desmond's MOM performance. I would like to claim Jye's own goal as I worked hard to get down the line and put in the cross, that will complete my hat-trick nicely
