Now I understand why Reds started so furiously....crazy running and they had their defence running up with their mids supporting their attack. It was no wonder that Whites were down 2-0 in 10 mins or so. Their relentless high energy attacking unsettled the Whites who found it hard to get into any kind of rhythm relying on Rainer, Fred and Elvin to try more solo attacks which were snubbed out by a strong defence trio of Tim, Andrew and Liren. Anthony played striker very effectively while Honda and Joshua had their way in the midfield and by half time it was 4-2 to Reds.
With both teams starting to tire and also quite a few players changing positions, most notably for Whites with Elvin moving up to attack and Dom moving from left back to right wing and Leo down the left wing. Honda was also taken out of the equation when he was sandwiched between 2 white players and ended falling on his back and had to go into goal. After that, it was Whites turn to take the stage. Kien was outstanding this game and made many vital interceptions and as we were down by a few goals, he went up to attack and got a fantastic header from an acute corner into the goal! Game on! 4-3. Then Leo took a tentative shot from around the box area and it rolled into the bottom left hand corner! 4-4!! After that Rainer came out of goal rejuvenated and went on to score a solo goal!!! 5-4!! Elvin had a great tap-in off a shot which Andrew could only parry and in the last 10 mins, Whites finally took the lead and went up 6-4.
In the last scramble, there was a contested goal call by Reds with the ball tottering on the line but Whites magnanimously gave it to Reds and the game ended 6-5 to Whites! Despite calls to play on for the last goal as there was no one, some players had had enough and called it quits! Great closely contested game!
