Right after Wilson announced the team selection on the group chat, there were murmurs going swirling in the air about how much stronger reds looked on paper. Pundits were making predictions about how reds were going to make a meal out of reds and winning by at least 2 goals.
But as how Murphy would have loved n predicted, whites went on to clinch the tie in the least swashbuckling yet deceive style and beat the crap out of reds, 7-3.
Captain Wilson, chided by his teammate and off the pitch friend David and Derian as a useless captain, started the team in 3-2-1 formation. August started in goal, Naz commanded center back, flanked by David on the left and Gow on the right. The midfield pairing comprised of double D's Derian and Daniel, and useless Willie Costa played as lone striker. In the reds corner, Marcus "latecomer" Rushford started in goal, for obvious reasons. Jeff, Ray and Keith in the backline, Sean and khairil in the center and delon played as lone striker.
Despite whites being a man up during the early stages of the game, they couldn't capitalise and by the time Rushford came on, scoreline was still intact.
Whites, against all odds, took the early lead and went on to double the lead 2-0 courtesy of goals from the double D's. Reds came back 1-2 to shake the confidence of whites witch wasn't exactly built on solid foundation.
Delon and Jeff were the key contributors for reds as the score went from 2-1, 3-1 to 3-2. One particularly nice mice saw reds putting a long ball up to delon who brought it down nicely to lay off for the onrushing Jeff who powered home ala kolarov. Special mention to david for that goal who was nowhere to be seen near jeff.
Sean and khairil's creativity were stifled by the hardworking D&D who was at their back all night long.
On the whites end, Wilson, a metaphorical pimp, was pulling Keith all over the place but wasn't the one scoring and instead setting the path for the rest to score. Naz scored a thunderous volley on the weaker foot and August towards the end of the game to cap off a wonderful performance by whites.

1) I probably should have moved to the middle and pair up with sean and get Khairil out on the right 2) changed to 2-3-1 with Keith and myself in defence 3) Not to have both Delon and Marcus upfront at the same time
Not taking any credit away from Whites who played to their strength and hit long balls time after time and made it count so many times. A good team effort from whites making spaces and keeping things simple.
The relentless pursuit of long balls at the end of the game seemed more like a personal attack... Keith's height... and, yes, as Jeff mentioned, it's a pity and shame Reds failed to respond with a timely tactical change... oh well, till next week...
