Vish requested red, Raphael white. No other comments. As Vish made the request first, Team 2 can be red. Guolong with 1 vote can be captain of Team 1. For Team 2, no one has any votes, so I'll go with the player with the most number of games in the current 6 month period. That would be Raphael, with 27 games. Therefore, line ups, captains and colours as follows:
Whites: Guolong (c), Stuart, Kong Fei, Kelvin Han, Faisal, Kars, Jeremiah Reds: David M, Kevin Wong, Andrew C, Taranjit, Ray, Vish, Raphael (c)
Everyone, please be early.
After the game, please post reports and comments on the game below.
There's a bit of edginess to this game. Particularly 2 incidents which in my opinion borders on unsportsmanlike conduct.
1. Red cpt was calling for a foul on him in his own half. I envisaged that the game would be stopped and ends up in a FK or a pass back to the aggrieved team if we can't agreed if it was a foul. In this instance, the other Reds played on & went on the score a "free pass" goal. Reds claimed that it's a legitimate goal & even suggest that it was White who wilfully called to halt the play, when it was their own Cpt calling for a FK to be awarded to him.
2. The organiser blew the whistle when the clock strike 10. But red practise "selective hearing" again because they were trailing & wanted to play on. This time, they claimed that they didn't hear the whistle.
I hope this game will continue to be played in the best spirit, and at the end of the day, all of us can return home feeling good about the game regardless of the scoreline.
Some countervailing considerations from the Game Rules:
As we play without a referee, if a player involved in a passage of play calls a foul, unless the player committing the foul or his team captain concede the foul, continue the play until the ball goes out of play or is in the hands of a goalkeeper. When a foul is called, don’t just leave the ball for the opposing side and stop playing. Sometimes, they will continue and score. At first instance, the matter should be left to the players involved in the passage of play. Other players not involved in the passage of play can express an opinion, but don’t press it. The final word is with the team selectors/captains. If the call is conceded, it resumes with the free kick or penalty as the case may be. ....
All genuinely 50:50 calls should be decided in favour of the team trailing by 2 goals or more.
