Its amazing how Wed Football seldom rains out ( I hope I don’t jinx it) Many were worried about the skies opening up and the heavy downpour late that evening. Nevertheless, the rain passed and just in time for our 9pm game to commence.
Reds opened the scoring with a deft back heel from Kelvin to Wilson who finished off the move with a clinical finish in the bottom corner beyond keeper Irvin’s reach.
Whites made it 2-1 in no time and managed to stretch the lead to 5-1 halfway into the game with lots of discipline while defending against reds’ attacks. Reds had a few missed easy chances to close the gap.
Unfortunate injuries to Hao Lun and kelvin saw the team capts swap Daniel for kelvin to even out the game. Both of them played in goal for the rest of the evening.
With an injection of youth into the reds team, they managed to pull a handful of goals back before the final whistle.
Game ended 8-5 to whites.
I’m not sure how to advise on the ball credit - Naz’s ball was used. But Keith brought it down. Rajiv, your call.
Apparently writing reports will give priority to game time? Ha, regardless, I’m gonna do it anyway since I’m here as the Reds team member.
Wednesday continues to be injuries plaqued from what I hear. Hao Lun was literally injured from the 2nd minute or so. He was sporting enough to help in between the sticks but his kicking is impaired.
I thought that was a slight disadvantage as August has to help take the goal kicks instead of opening up the space as right or left back. Kudos also to White in maintaining discipline in man marking making It tough for Reds to do much through the Long balls.
Daniel was slightly quiet by his usual standards but the rest of Whites pulled together and open up a wide lead.
We did a swap of players as Kelvin was injured midway through the game and Kelvin went to goal for the Whites and we got Daniel to the reds. Daniel pulled one back for the reds giving a glimmer of hope but Whites sees out the game with a good shape throughout the second half.
Good game all around but was abit unfortunate with all the injuries. Keep safe, take care and hope everyone will return soon enough.
