We got 2 late on to get to 10. From the schedule thread:
....
A 5-a-side pitch is available. Late now, so I will discuss line ups with teh player on each team with the most number of games in the current 6 month period can be captain. That would be Calvin for Team 1 with 26 games and Akshay for Team 2 with 16 games.
I discussed line ups with Calvin and Akshay. They were unfamiliar with several players, but we finally agreed on the following:
Reds: Calvin (c), Muzammil, Arjay, Jakub, Sven
Whites: Akshay (c), Ben Loke, Nazrul, Josiah, Rajiv
....
Akshay messaged to say he is out. .... We'll try to find a replacement at the pitch.
Fortunately, Wilson Lim, who had been playing from 7 to 9 pm, came in.
Reds looked too strong, especially with Wilson already tired from 2 hours of play. I asked Muzammil, who was wearing a deeper shade of red then the rest of the Reds, to switch over, so line ups were as follows:
Reds: Calvin (c), Arjay, Jakub, Sven, Wilson
Whites: Ben Loke, Nazrul, Josiah, Rajiv, Muzammil
For most of the game, there wasn't more than a goal in it. The scoring went as follows (Whites' score first):
0-1, 2-1, 2-3 ... and so on up to 9-8. Reds then scored direct from a goalkick. Under our rules, it would count, but the goalkeeper who scored said don't count it, so we didn't during the game. However, for this report, I will include it. The scoring continued as follows (Whites' score first, and including Reds' disallowed goal):
10-9, 12-10, 14-12, up to the hour.
The lights stayed on so we played last goal, which Reds scored. With less regular players, Whites were now struggling. We decided on another last goal, which Reds again scored, to level at 14-14 (including Reds' disallowed goal). We were 10 minutes past the hour, and the light were still on, but we (especially Whites) really couldn't continue.
Good game overall, especially Josiah, who had an excellent game in defence (although he could afford to tone down the physicality of his challenges). Wilson, who had already played 2 hours, was also remarkably still full of energy up to the end.
$1 credit Calvin as captain. Other credits later.
