It was goalless in the first 15-20 minutes as both teams defended well. Red then got 3 goals to take the lead. In the last 10 minutes, White was awarded a penalty but failed to convert it. Final score was 3-0 to Red.
Started the game really late as both captains were late. I think we only gotten to 7-7 around 915pm.
In general, frustrating evenings for the whites as we just couldn’t get the game going. Stray passes, mis-controlled turnover possessions to the Reds far too often and too easily. There wasn’t much of a shape in the formation in contrast to the Reds who kept a tight shape throughout the whole game.
Reds took their chances well especially the second goal from Sean which was tapped through by Wilson. Wilson could have scored a nice team move if not for the reflex save from Jeff who kept the score at that point respectable.
Whites has a couple of nice chances and a penalty which we failed to convert any resulting in a rare clean sheet in Giffa. At that point, there wasn’t much of a momentum for Whites and a rally to press the game didn’t yield any result as well.
Standout player to White probably goes to Lester who didn’t yield a single inch to the Reds and was termed “Mr No Nonsense” by Wilson. Tracked, tackled, get the ball out of danger zone. He made it look simple.
Reds generally played well as an unit, everyone kept to their role and made it really hard for Whites to deal any damage. Hard to pinpoint any one standout player but well played as a team.
Should both captains be deprived of their additional $1 credit for being so late? I've added a poll.
3 players voted that they should be deprived of their additional $1 credit and no player voted against, but I think I need more players to vote before I deprive the captains of their additional credit, so I will give it to them this time. However, they will be excluded from the selector poll for all games for three weeks (until 14 February 2020). Just a reminder that captains should take their responsibilities seriously, including being early. The credits (like the penalties and admin fees) are token, but penalties, admin fees and withholding of credits are intended to serve as a reminder that players shouldn't ignore the repeated reminders.
$1 to each of Anthony and Ray for a first report for Reds and Whites respectively. Additional $1 credit to Ben and Anthony as captains. $1 credit to Calvin for a second report for Whites. Ball credit to Calvin.
