If an 8pm game is available at the Premier Pitch, I can switch from the 5pm game. This will free up both days of the weekend for the family. A happy family means an in-form weekend warrior!

Thanks for the feedback Foo Cheong. It may not be this weekend, or even this month, but I will start an extra weekend game sooner or later. It all depends on how much feedback I get.

We had an extra 7-a-side game yesterday [Wednesday], and we still have 4 reserves for tonight [Thursday]! .... All three games on the 7-a-side pitch at Sports Planet filled up, with still 4 more in reserve, and perhaps others who might have played if there had been any places left. I don't have the 7-a-side pitch next Wednesday, so expect greater competition for places for the games on Tuesday and Thursday. Beyond next week, there will be games on the 7-a-side pitch at Sports Planet on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. If they continue to fill up early with players in reserve, we can consider an additional game on either Monday or Friday night. .... Monday or Friday night? Feedback below please.

As the women have the 6 to 7 pm slot at the Premier Pitch, having the additional game from 6 to 7 pm might mean having it at Sports Planet. If the preference is for having it at the Premier Pitch, 8 to 9 pm might work out better.

The three 7-a-side games from Tuesday to Thursday on the big pitch at Sports Planet have filled up largely on the message board this week (except for a handful who SMSed me), and there are a few reserves for tomorrow (Thursday). It won't be long before we will need one more game each week. I'm re-instituting a game at The Cage on Monday nights, and I don't think we're ready for a Friday night game yet, so I'd rule out Monday and Friday for now. The better option may be to have a second game on Tuesday or Thursday night (the two more popular games compared to Wednesday night). As there is only one big pitch at Sports Planet, it can be either earlier (8 to 9 pm) or later (10 to 11 pm). Alternatively, we can try the Premier Pitch at Khalsa. Like the big pitch at Sports Planet, it is not covered, but at 36m x 24m, it is wider than the big pitch at Sports Planet, at the same price of $120 per hour. I've added a poll. As always, whether any game can go on at the time/venue proposed depends on the availability of pitches.

I have locked the poll. It is tied at 2 votes for 8 to 9 pm at Sports Planet and 2 votes for 9 to 10 pm at the Premier Pitch @ Khalsa. Looking at the 3 options: * There is a greater risk of late-coming with an 8 to 9 pm slot. We aim to start our sessions on time. * We have considered playing from 10 to 11 pm for an extra game on the same night as a regular 9 to 10 pm game, but it has not proved popular enough. The late hour and the need to go to sleep after the game are issues. In any event, this option did not get any votes. * I'm more inclined towards 9 to 10 pm at the Premier Pitch @ Khalsa. The 9 to 10 pm slot is tried and tested, and has proven popular and successful. It would also be an opportunity to start playing at the Premier Pitch @ Khalsa, on a pitch not as narrow as the one at Sports Planet, and at a more central location. I am also more inclined towards Thursday night. Even if Tuesday night is more popular than Thursday night, if Tuesday night fills up, there is still Wednesday and Thursday night available. If all three nights fill up, and Friday night is ruled out, then the remaining option for a weeknight game is to have an extra game on Thursday night.

If there is sufficient interest, we can have an extra 7-a-side game from 8 to 9 pm at the Premier Pitch @ Khalsa. The Premier Pitch @ Khalsa (for 6 or 7-a-side) and The Cage (for 4 or 5-a-side) are the preferred venues for extra games, as they are more central than our other regular venues, Sports Planet or the Premier Pitch @ Turf City. Also, the Premier Pitch @ Turf City, although covered, is more expensive, and the game there is harder to manage with less than 14 players.

.... ..., if there is to be an extra game in the future, I would like to give those who prefer the 7-a-side pitch at Sports Planet an additional opportunity to play, so it is likely to be one of the following: * an hour later than the regular game at Khalsa on Thursday night, that is, 10 to 11 pm. * Friday, 9 to 10 pm or 10 to 11 pm. * Sunday, 8 to 9 pm. I've added a poll. A broader issue.

.... This weekend, I will try an extra game at the Premier Pitch @ Khalsa on Sundays from 7 to 8 pm. If it works out, it we become a regular game, either weekly or fortnightly.

I'm starting an extra 7-a-side game at the weekend. If it becomes a regular game, it will make three 7 or 8-a-side games at the weekend. I don't think we currently have the numbers for an extra 7-a-side game on weeknights. We already have three 7-a-side games (Tuesday to Thursday) and one 5-a-side game on weekenights. If we have anything extra on weeknights, it is likely to be Wednesday night at The Cage, alternating between a mixed game and Cage cricket. I might start this as early as mid-September. An extra 7-a-side game at Sports Planet probably won't happen before the fourth quarter of this year.

Unfortunately, a pitch is not available at The Cage on Wednesday nights until late November 2011.
I'll try an extra 7-a-side game at Sports Planet earlier instead, on Thursdays from 8 September 2011 onwards.

The three weeknight 7-a-side games (Tuesday to Thursday) have been filling up on the message board, with a few reserves for each game (although with withdrawals, most of the reserves have gotten to play). However, I think there are a lot more who would play if they had the chance. I think I could easily get 10, but most want to play 7-a-side, so even if I get a 5-a-side pitch at Khalsa, Sports Planet or The Cage, I think several of those who might play won't bother, so we might still end up short. So I'll go the whole hog and try an extra 7-a-side game. If I could get a Thursday, 8 to 9 slot at Khalsa, I would use that for a regular challenge match, and use the current 9 to 10 pm slot as a regular game. However, I haven't been able to get an 8 to 9 pm slot (or any extra weeknight slot at Khalsa for that matter). I have been able to get a 9 to 10 pm slot at Sports Planet for Thursday nights. Before the Thursday night game was moved to Khalsa, Sports Planet was our regular venue for Thursday nights. Kelvin Au is keen to get that started again and I believe he has been recruiting his colleagues for that purpose. I'll give it a try. We've had two games on the same night at two different venues before, even though it can get a bit complicated. I'll try it for a few weeks. The minimum we need is 24 (12 per game). However, if we do not have enough players for two games, it will be the Sports Planet game that will be cancelled. I don't want to cancel any Khalsa weeknight games as it's really hard to get a pitch. It's also cheaper than the pitch at Sports Planet.

Two weeks ago, we had back to back 8-a-side games on Sunday. The Sunday just gone, we barely had enough for a 7-a-side. Meanwhile, the numbers for Saturday have been sustained, and have even increased slightly since the start of August 2011. However, we struggled for numbers for the Saturday game throughout July. On a couple of occasions, I was forced to play to make up numbers. The volatility in the numbers for the weekend games at Turf City (both Saturday and Sunday) is a headache. The following are available as spare bookings: * 4 to 5 pm on Sunday at Turf City (from 2 October 2011 onwards). * an hour after 6 pm on Sunday at Khalsa. 4 to 5 pm on Saturday is not available at Turf City. Given the concern about the weather at Khalsa (with its uncovered pitches), I won't try a game before 6 pm at Khalsa for now, even at the weekend. I imagine Saturday evenings, like Friday nights, would not be popular. We're stuck with extra games on Sunday, as and when required.

The volatility in turnout is not because it is at Turf City, but because it is the weekend (with many other competing commitments).
Recently you cancelled a scheduled Sunday game at Khalsa because of poor response. So a weekend game is at risk from attendance fluctuations regardless of location.
