David SMSed at about 7.30 pm to say he was held up at work. I found a couple of players at Khalsa to take turns in his place. We ended up: Whites: Bobby, Srini, John S, Luccas S, Eugene, Rajiv, spare player Reds: Dhiraj, Wayne H, Wee Teck, John J, Justin, Lynz, Jayant I should have made a few more changes. Never mind. Reds started sharper and led 5-0, scoring some well-struck long-range goals from outside the D, which flashed in off the wet surface. Whites initial response was to try even longer range shots from just inside their own half, which didn't help. It also didn't help that both Luccas and John S were wearing flat soled running/hard court shoes on the wet surface, and were having trouble keeping their footing. Whites managed to settle and the score progressed to 9-4, before a couple of slack moments allowed Reds to pull ahead 11-4. Whites grabbed the last goal, for the game to finish 11-5 to Reds. For the last 5 minutes, both our guest players joined in to make 8 against 7, but it didn't make much difference. Tough game for Whites, but useful in reminding us that keeping a good shape to the team is the most important part of our games. For the uncovered pitches, it is best to use the shoes with rubber-pimples: I'm not in favour of blades or studs as they are more likely to cause injury to opponents. Add any comments about the game below.
