i am sorry judging from previous performances, Ian shouldnt be a captain - he doesnt speak up and he cheats - he allows games to escalate into a market frenzy - I vote for Stuart - and since I was out yesterday - I also hold power of attorney for votes from Mark and Teik so that gives Stuart Lee 3 votes too -
sorry to have to bring controversy into the system - but hard times calls for harsh actions -

i think Raphael meant - record for a Tuesday game when the infamous and hugely unpopular "Dennis James" is amongst the list of players. looks a strong and decent line up and I get to play with Shaiful again!!

its alright Ian - I dont post for the sake of posting - I only raise the issue when I think it merits looking into - you are a lawyer so call it anyway you like it - you are only sussed out and told upon because u know its me....so for the benefit of the members in our team - someone has to tell on you at some point right? let's see try to get away with stealing another 10 yds next time - btw, Ian - wake up - Giffas wasnt formed 20 yrs ago - again you are terrible with numbers. maybe you were out of the game too long then when Giffa or previouly FAFI started. so let's not go down that route. when I was organising games and holding the old gang together where were you? nursing an old knee injury and missing them games....so dont talk to me about Giffas being formed 20 yrs ago - even Rajiv will not make that claim...u really hv the cheek, eh bro??
Rajiv - I guess my reputation precedes me but that's alright - I have to live with it - so I take it all together but do note the post I put down was about really about the game and Ian's antics - as I already mentioned if humour and candour cannot be tolerated, then I will stick to bland witless posting that no everyone enjoys reading....
It wasnt about me breaking the rules or turning things upset down - so let's not give too much attention to me - I dont deserve the limelight thank you very much -
if anything, I do report and shed more colour on match incidents compared to most people - admit it? if that's frowned upon - then pls let me know and I will happily tow the line.
Ian - last point of note - of cos you dont have time for this, for fear of a full blown Giffas investigation into your recalcitrant unsportsmanship conduct on Tuesday night - like I said, I am an old friend so I tolerated it - just dont do it again - else you will get separate reminders from Rajiv - and try not to deflect too much attention onto me - makes you look mushy and soft....

yes - in the name of sportsmanship - I have to say Stuart was colossus in defence last night and in goal too - he saved a thunderbolt of a shot from Raphael (one of the many last night from him) which was otherwise destined for the top corner!
speaking of sportsmanship - I was actually astounded - for Ian to actually post that he was on time - at 9pm? what brand are you sporting Ian for your timekeeping - walking in to interrupt an otherwise good shooting opportunity by Raphael, then insisting that goals conceded in his absence would be discounted, Ian failed to also note the theme of sportsmanship throughout the evening when we gamely loaned neil until Ian arrived.
Ian strangely was on one of his better days, faster to the ball, sharper and also more physical, kicking me and stepping on my foot and of course scoring a few goals -
I think I do that to people - motivate them to play harder against whichever team I am in. Even Guolong was particularly industrious, chasing down every ball - harder in tackles and his shots were very opportunistic! resulting in a healthy goal tally for his team.
Kong Fei was unfortunately slightly hurt in an innocuous challenge without any real intent from the opposition else I am sure the whites would have put up an even bigger fight!
the score did not do justice to the competitiveness of last night - contrary to what Ian suggested, it was not so much as the reds clinical in front of goal - apart from Raphael we were all not a real bunch of sharp shooters - it was the speed and accuracy of passing, slickness of movement and excellent team work all round - stalwart defending from Shaiful in front of the keeper -
to sum the goals nicely - Raphael had 5 - 2 in the pre game before Ian arrived - and 3 thunderbolts later on - Neil had 2 - one of them a bullet header off a raphael floater - clement had 2 - shaiful had 1 and I had 1 - my goal somewhat flukish but a wonderful pass from Neil. Shaiful had a slaloming run beating 4 defenders before firing his shot off the post what a shame and not to forget, Raj's sweet volley from my exquisite ball only for Stuart stomach (literally) the shot out for a corner! he will never hit a better shot!
I know Calvin was working his socks off and I actually stomped on his foot while trying to nick the ball off him - sorry Calvin again - unintentional - Raphael had his shin raked by one player on the other team - we should really avoid wearing blades if we can - they can cause serious damage - although unintentional - if one is wearing blades then should watch the tackles -
and now to the protagonist of the story - Ian De Vaz -
if Ian was ever dishonest in his life - last night was the one time which no one will arguably dispute I reckon - stealing 10-15 yds off kick ins each time - standard 2 yds from opposition kick ins - and fouling players incessantly - but because Ian and I are close pals - I let it go - but some others may not and accept such liberties freely - but despite his thuggery, he was a livewire for his team -
I have never seen him run more - so man of the match - Ian - oops sorry I meant for man of the match for thuggery and cheating antics -
Real man of the match - Neil for his tireless running attacking and defending - and a rare headed goal and a tight angled finish - to compensate for the goal we "robbed" him last week.
bring it on again lads! well played all round -
hope nothing too serious for Kong Fei - excellent player - and Clement too for his tweaked knee -

Why should the onus be on the other player to have ask you to cut it out? The onus should be on you to cut it out.
Setting aside Shamir and the player who messaged me, the several other players who have given me feedback on you are all longstanding regulars, including regulars from the weekend games. You don't need to tell me who I should listen to, or not.
Maybe at some stage, it might be a good idea for you and Shamir to talk face to face. I'm not sure when.
now that I know some people cannot deal with the winding up - I would of course desist from doing it. my initial point to you was: why didnt they tell me in the first place? I genuine didnt know how much it traumatised them until these feedback. now I know I am happy to act under advisement and cease althogether.
its not about whose onus it is to do things. it takes two to tango, and hang around to talk about it after the game if you like. all I am saying is I am open to feedback.
this forum is about getting together and playing football and improving on ourselves isnt it? let's not behave like little kids. we are grown ups. I can take criticism too.
Given his strong personality and being more vocal (at times negatively), he spoilt the mood of the game for most of the players, including his own team members. I believe this sentiment is shared among the silent majority.
On the incident, if a pirouette is considered reckless, perhaps Rajiv can consider to put in a rule that no pirouettes are allowed for fear/danger of flailing elbows.
However, I'd say Dennis was just clumsy against more skillful opponents. Karma has its way and I think it got to Dennis in the form of an accidental elbow to his nose and being floored in the 2nd incident. Had it happened to any other opponent, a sincere apology would have been made by me immediately. I did say sorry eventually.
Played in GIFFA for quite a while now and have played in games where my team lost but we still felt good and enjoyed the game and workout. This is the only game so far which I did not enjoy.
well glad that Shamir has come clean on this incident and yes for everyone's benefit Shamir did apologise - why did I still post about it then? you may ask -
First up, it was because the immediate response to me when I raised the fact to stop the game was because I was just been hit in the nose by his failing elbow and was bleeding, was Shamir's response "you ran into me"! "you face hit my elbow" - I mean like seriously, if your elbows were by your side wouid it hit my face in the first place?!!
then Shamir kept saying it was not intentional. I never said it was intentional, it was just dangerous, obviously dangerous enough to draw blood. to be honest in all my years of playing footie which is definitely alot more than Shamir since I am older, I have never been clobbered in the face, so to call me clumsy - sounds more like an excuse, like me tackling peminder when he's too fast for me - isnt it the same - a foul is still a foul - Shamir is always one for deflecting the blame to someone else - please for once, man up and take responsibility for your actions. I eventually told him, bro I am not saying it was intentional just at least say sorry. Pirouettes if done properly looks really good but if you cant put your elbows down, you can get clobbered like I did in my 2 incidents.
I will admit I wind people up - gets me going - if you didnt like it, come up to me and say so Shamir. dont be the "hero" and try to take someone out like you did me on Tuesday's game. a smaller guy would have been hurt alot worse. all I got was a bruised hip and bleeding wrist. dont get me wrong if I wanted, I could have retaliated against and honestly, that's how fights are started.
but I have seen enough of these to know better so I just walk away and stopped the game. did I try to get back at Shamir? no I chose not to. I may wind him up. but for me its always verbals - and Shamir's admits himself, then if someone talks, then be prepared for him to take matters into his own hands and he will go in hard.
Those who played with me know I can take hard tackles, I just wont go along with reckless attempts to injure another player. if it was just an aggressive tackle its fine but point is simple, I had the ball and turned and he came fr behind and took me out and I flew to the ground with thud. coming from behind is agressive and I would say reckless too by looks of it if I had to spill blood, dont you think?
best part was, no apology whatsoever, just pretended he never did anything.
to be honest I can happily apologise for any verbals which upset anybody, take my incident with kodaka for example. I would have apologised to Shamir if he told me I was spoiling the game for him. similarly for the anonymous bro although I now think I know who he is. Come up to me and say you cannot handle my wind ups and you dont like it at all then I would gladly stop. And I would apologise for a bad tackle anytime readily. but shamir? I dont know. he hasnt apologised for his 2 tackles on Tuesday's game. but its alright its fine by me.
I am not saying I am blameless - I hold my hands up for the winding up. but if the above 2 individuals came up to me and told me they dont like the wind ups. I would have stopped.
Like what Orange in the UK used as their punchline: Its good to talk.
but I guess that's not how it is these days. no body speaks up anymore - and I do too much of it.

Come on ii was thrown to the ground as if hammered by a a freight train u know I m a big guy n with a bruised n bleeding wrist how can that not be violent? I fell to the ground with a thud n could have been seriously injured that's why I reported it.
Rajiv why don't u ask other neutrals in the team ? N ask them what they saw.
Anyone who knows me know I can take a hit physical or aggressive but a reckless attempt to injure another opponent that I cannot appreciate. Else why would I stop the game when for all intents n purposes we would hv equalized n even won!

All good points but sometimes it's good to have someone come up to u and tell u in the face. In Shamir case, I dint do anything to wind him up in the first game but did it matter?
In any case, since when does winding up lead to any justifiable basis to hurting another player in other team? Seriously as adults u can't just tell the other guy off n rather resort to reckless acts to stop it? Is that the message u r sending out?
Sorry to hear abt the bro who dare not come up to me n say what he wanted else I would have been happy to have addressed his concerns.
I mean what is the difference when we play with a selfish dude who doesn't pass m choose to play as he fancies I mean that would ruin the game for me too. Should I not turn up as he does.?
My winding up is similar to the scenario above but if someone came up to me during the game n said he doesn't appreciate it I will gladly tone it down but if I told a player to please pass do u think same scenario would he be gracious to co-operate?
If a bro has played with me that long man up n tell it to my face instead of thinking of how to do a Shamir n deck me?! Seriously wtf is he thinking? Shows his maturity ya? anyway try coming down on weekend games will see I m different. On tues games I m with friends usually w Ian n it doesn't get bad blood. So I think it's far bigger problem than toning down its about being mature adults n speaking out at the game if we have a problem.
But decking someone or violence is not solving the problem because that would make u no different from Shamir
So man up n talk to me. Talking helps. Ever wondered why weekend games don't have problems when I play in them? Surely there has to be a reason.
Plus I wasn't only one who clattered, Ralph was too n he didn't wind up anyone so it's tough to just pass comments when the missing tues bro was not at the game! U should ask Ralph or anyone who saw how Shamir took me out to know what were the circumstances like last night!
Rajiv u should come down on Tuesdays when we next play n u will get a better picture too n now jus listen to hear say from some less mature individuals.
Seriously decking someone for being loud? R u even Singaporean or u prefer some jail time to sober up? Where do u come from to possess such angry thoughts? I m just glad u didn't play recently else there would hv been some serious problems. Talk about it man don't keep it all inside.
Even kodaka n I had a clear the air talk n the next game we played together in opposing teams no problems whatsoever n we shook hands like best pals!
